PokerTracker 4 Speeds Up Database Update Times
The newest version of
PokerTracker 4 was released in recent days. There's not a blockbuster featured added in this update, as the release is instead about preparing PokerTracker 4 for its
Mac version, which is due out in the near future.
PokerTracker officials commented in a press release, "Most of this release is fixing behind-the-scenes issues in preparation for the Mac OS X version of PT4, which we predict will be available within the next two months. Development is coming along very nicely and we have a long list of world-class players who are alpha testing for us on OS X right now."
So what's in the newest version, which is numbered 4.05.10? PokerTracker explained, "The big news for people with huge databases is that database updates will take considerably less time now." The change comes from the fact that updates that require database changes will no longer require clustering. So, for those of you with massive databases, like many online poker pros for example, you can expect a faster experience when you use PokerTracker 4.
Also new in PokerTracker 4.05.10 is the ability to create customer logs by holding down the "Alt" key when you restart the program. This is a one-click way to create your log, which should also be a time-saver.
bwin skin auto-detection has been incorporated in the newest rendition of PokerTracker 4, as has improvement of the Overall Results Graph that many players view. So, if you're playing on bwin, which is now a
PartyPoker skin, PokerTracker can automatically figure that out. Finally, PokerTracker developers have improved the database queries used in tournament
HUDs for Hero sessions.
As is usually the case with PokerTracker updates, a variety of bugs were corrected in order to ensure a smoother user experience. For players on the new
Full Tilt, which re-launched in November, an error involving Run it Twice hands with a returned side pot was corrected. On Ongame, an import issue involving generic tournaments was fixed.
As a special note, PokerTracker officials cautioned, "A database update will be required with this release. This mandatory update is required due to the changes made to Rush games to ensure that they are correctly tagged as 'Fast'. The database update is completed quickly, but vacuum maintenance is required to complete the activity. Please be aware that action might take some time to complete, but the time required is less than in prior updates. The length of time required is dependent on the size of your databases." The point is that the update could take several minutes; don't be alarmed.
